Welcome to the Community Justice and Mediation Center

It seems like conflict is all around us.  We have just passed through one of the most intense presidential election cycles in recent memory.  We are now facing a potential fiscal cliff unless lawmakers can come together on a solution. It is comforting to know that there is an organization like CJAM to help heal harm from conflict and crime.  Our community needs what CJAM offers more than ever.

Last month we hosted our annual Harvest Gathering.  It was an enjoyable time as well as a successful  fundraiser.  You can read about the Herb Kiesling and  Haines Turner award winners elsewhere on this blog.  Our keynote speaker was our own board member Jody Madeira.   Her topic was Killing McVeigh: The Death Penalty and the Myth of Closure based on her newly published book.  It was a timely and engaging talk.

Our fall Basic Mediation Training has just wrapped up.  It was a big success.  Thanks goes out to Jon Dilts, Vanessa Roberts, and Jon Alme for their time and effort to make this critical training happen.  Several of the attendees are currently training to be volunteers.

It is my sad duty to announce that David Nosko has left CJAM.  Our longtime staff member and Director of Programs  got an opportunity to join a large restorative justice organization in Pittsburgh.  David brought many positive changes to CJAM over the years.  He was responsible for developing our successful shoplifting and theft education program.  David was also able to transform our VORP program into Community Voices.  All of us at CJAM want to thank David for all he has done to move us forward. He will be missed.  We all wish him well in his new position.

As the end of the year approaches, please consider how you might support CJAM to get that potential last minute tax deduction.

Help us heal harm in 2013!
